Create and manage projects
Create a project for each app you test, optionally with its first environment and login, then rename it, set its default test duration, pause its testing or delete it.
A project holds everything needed to test one application: its environments, credentials, variables, test cases, test plans, runs, findings, Self-driving’s settings and map, and API keys. Your first project is created during setup. Add one for every other app you test.
Create a project
Section titled “Create a project”-
Open the project switcher near the top of the sidebar and click Create project. The Create new project dialog opens.

Enter a Project Name, such as
Payment Service, and optionally a description. -
Optionally tick Add an environment and enter its name and URL, so the project can run tests straight away.

Optionally tick Add login credentials and enter a test login, used by test cases you attach it to.

Click Create project.
Creating projects needs the Editor role or above. Pro, Startup and Enterprise have unlimited projects; the Free plan has one, with one environment.
Switch projects
Section titled “Switch projects”Open the project switcher and pick a project, or type in Find project to filter the list. Testmode remembers the last project you opened in each browser. Everything you see, from Overview to Settings, belongs to the current project.
Project settings
Section titled “Project settings”Open Settings > General:

Click Save changes. Changing settings needs the Editor role or above.
Below them, Testing runs on its own has the switch that pauses the project’s schedules, CI runs and Self-driving at once. See Pause testing and protect data.
What Self-driving does in the project, and the project’s goal, are set in Self-driving settings, the gear beside Self-driving in the sidebar. See Turn on Self-driving.
The other tabs of Settings hold the project’s environments, credentials, variables and API keys.
Delete a project
Section titled “Delete a project”Deleting a project removes its test cases, plans, schedules, runs, environments, credentials, variables and API keys, with its findings, Inbox and map, for good:
- Its schedules stop running.
- CI jobs and AI agents using its API keys start failing.
- The organization, its members, its other projects and its plan are not affected.

Open Settings > General.

Under Delete project, click Delete project and confirm. It can’t be deleted while tests are queued or running in it.
Deleting projects needs the Admin or Owner role. A project with a long run history can take a few moments to delete; the dialog shows its progress.
