What Testmode does

Testmode tests web applications. You write what should happen in ordinary language — log in, add two items to the basket, check the total — and an AI tester opens a real browser and does it, then reports what passed, what failed and why.

There are no test scripts to write and no changes to the application under test. That second part matters more than it sounds: it means Testmode works on software you did not build and cannot modify, including ERP systems, low-code applications and software delivered by an external supplier.

Why we built it

Test automation has been available for twenty years and most teams still do not have it. The reason is consistent: writing tests requires engineering time, and engineering time goes to features. The people who know exactly how the software is supposed to behave — the operations lead, the product manager, the person who handles support — usually cannot write a test at all.

That gap got worse when AI coding tools made it normal to ship software nobody on the team can fully explain. More code, written faster, understood by fewer people. The traditional answer — write a suite in TypeScript and maintain it — does not scale to that.

So Testmode moves test writing to whoever knows the requirement, and lets an AI handle the browser. We are candid about where that is not the right trade: our comparison pages say plainly where Playwright, Cypress or Selenium is the better choice.

Who builds Testmode

Testmode is built by Amber Digital, a software studio in Amsterdam that builds AI-native software and advises teams on their development lifecycle. Testmode came out of that advisory work — testing was the bottleneck that showed up in almost every engagement.
