# Sign up, sign in and manage your profile

> A Testmode account signs in with an email address and a password. Create one, reset a password, accept an invitation and edit your profile.

You sign in to Testmode with an email address and a password. On your **Profile** page you can change your display name, see your role in each organization you belong to, and choose which run emails you get under **Email Notifications** (see [Email run reports](https://testmode.ai/docs/email-run-reports/#reports-for-runs-you-start)).

## Create an account

1. Open the Testmode app and select the **Sign Up** tab.

2. Enter your **Name**, **Email** and **Password**.

3. Click **Create Account**.

If you don't belong to an organization yet, Testmode asks you to create one and your first project. See the [quickstart](https://testmode.ai/docs/quickstart/).

If you see "Account already exists", Testmode switches you to **Sign In** with your email filled in. Sign in with your existing password.

If your password is rejected, follow the message shown and choose a stronger one.

**Tip**

If a teammate invited you, use the link in the invitation email instead. See [Accept an invitation](https://testmode.ai/docs/sign-up-and-sign-in/#accept-an-invitation).

## Sign in

1. Open the Testmode app. The **Sign In** tab is selected.

2. Enter your **Email** and **Password**.

3. Click **Sign In**.

You land on **Overview**.

## Reset a forgotten password

1. On the **Sign In** tab, click **Forgot password?**.

2. Check the address in **Email** and click **Send Reset Link**.

3. Open the link in the reset email.

4. On the page that says "Choose a new password for" your address, fill in **New password** and **Confirm password**.

5. Click **Update password**.

Testmode shows "Password updated" and you continue into the app.

The reset email comes from the sign-in system, so it can look different from other Testmode emails, such as invitations.

## Accept an invitation

An invitation adds you to an organization with the role your teammate chose.

1. Open the invitation email and click **Accept invitation**.

   Testmode opens with "You're invited to join" and the organization's name, and the invited email is already filled in.

2. Create an account or sign in with that address:

   - **New to Testmode:** stay on **Sign Up**, enter your **Name** and **Password**, and click **Create Account**.
   - **Already have an account:** select **Sign In**, enter your **Password**, and click **Sign In**.

You're added to the organization and land on **Overview**. If you were already signed in with the invited address, the invitation is accepted straight away and Testmode shows "Invitation accepted".

A few rules apply:

- **Use the invited address.** If you sign up with a different email, you aren't added to the organization.
- **Links expire.** Each link works once, and only for 7 days.
- **Signing up picks up pending invitations.** A new account for an address with pending invitations is added to each organization that invited it.
- **Existing accounts need the link.** Signing in the usual way doesn't accept an invitation.

**Note**

Right after you sign up from an invitation, you may briefly see "Could not accept invitation" even though you joined. Reload the page to check whether the organization appears.

## Change your display name

1. Open the organization menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose **Profile**.

2. Under **Personal Information**, edit **Display Name**.

3. Click **Save Changes**.

Testmode shows "Profile updated". Your name appears in the organization's member list, as **Triggered By** on runs you start, and in invitation emails you send.

You can't change your email address or delete your account in the app.

## See your role in each organization

On **Profile**, the **Organization Roles** card lists every organization you belong to, with your role in each. The organization you're working in has a **Current** badge.

Roles are set per organization, so you can be an Owner in one and an Editor in another. See [Roles and permissions](https://testmode.ai/docs/roles-and-permissions/).

## If sign-in fails

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| "Sign in failed" with "Invalid email or password" | Check your email address for typos, or reset your password. |
| "Invalid or expired invitation", or "Could not accept invitation" with "Invitation is invalid or has expired" | The link was already used, canceled, replaced by a newer invitation, or has expired. Ask your teammate for a new invitation. |
| "Could not accept invitation" with "This invitation was sent to a different email address" | Sign out, then sign in or sign up with the invited address. |
| "Could not load your organizations." with **Retry** | Loading failed. Click **Retry**. You aren't sent to onboarding. |
